FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation              If respiratory symptoms develop from exposure to fumes emitted by the molten material, move victim away from source of exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. If victim is not breathing, immediately begin artificial respiration. If breathing difficulties develop, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel. Seek immediate medical attention.
Ingestion Solid material is not acutely toxic; however, if molten material is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
Eye contact If in eyes wash out immediately with water. In all cases of eye contamination it is a sensible precaution to seek medical advice.
Skin Contact If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water. If swelling, redness, blistering or irritation occurs seek medical assistance.
Swallowed Rinse mouth, then drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Get medical advice/attention if large amounts are swallowed or if you feel unwell.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable Extinguishing Media         Dry chemical, foam, sand, water fog is recommended.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards         This material may burn, but will not ignite readily.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

SMALL SPILLS      Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contamination. Avoid inhalation of vapours or dust. Wipe up with absorbent (clean rag or paper towels). Collect and seal in properly labelled containers or drums for disposal.
LARGE SPILLS Clear area of all unprotected personnel. Slippery when spilt. Avoid accidents, clean up immediately. Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contamination and the inhalation of dust. Work up wind or increase ventilation. Cover with damp absorbent (inert material, sand or soil). Sweep or vacuum up, but avoid generating dust. Collect and seal in properly labelled containers or drums for disposal. If contamination of crops, sewers or waterways has occurred advise local emergency services.
Containment Stop leak if safe to do so – Prevent entry into waterways, drains or confined areas. Prevent dust cloud.

HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling                 Avoid eye contact and repeated or prolonged skin contact. Avoid inhalation of dust.
Storage Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place and out of direct sunlight. Store away from foodstuffs. Store away from incompatible materials described in Section 10. Store away from sources of heat and/or ignition. Keep container standing upright. Keep containers closed when not in use - check regularly for spills.
